The video is 4.7 seconds long. It has been reviewed, allegedly, by three officials at the WPRA. It has not been publicly addressed. And it has been six weeks.
Chute 6 obtained the raw footage from a source inside the arena crew. We had it independently reviewed by two former timing officials. Both agreed on the same thing: the recorded time does not match what the tape shows.
The gap is 0.14 seconds. The gap is also the difference between first and third place — and roughly $18,400 in prize money.
We reached the WPRA for comment on Tuesday. They asked for a week. It has been a week. Their spokesperson did not respond to our follow-up.
We are naming the officials involved in the print edition. Subscribers get it first.
